I am the Investment Specialist at Mainland. I have over 40 years’ experience in the Financial Services Sector, the last twenty-three as a specialist financial adviser. I hold a Graduate Diploma in Personal Financial Planning and am a Certified Financial Planner (CFPCM) and Financial Adviser.
A significant part of my role is assisting my clients accumulate capital for retirement, at which time we implement a strategy to ensure a financially comfortable retirement.
I am married to Yvonne and we have two adult children. When not at work you’ll probably find me enjoying the company of family and friends or I may be out on my mountain bike. However, more than likely I’ll have my head in a book reading about the exploits of the many brave New Zealanders who served in the RNZAF and RAF during the Second World War.
I have been an Adviser with Mainland since May 2001. Prior to this, I have worked in the Real Estate, Construction and Rural Sectors. I have studied and obtained a Graduate Diploma in Business Studies majoring in financial planning. I am a Financial Adviser and Shareholder of Mainland.
In my spare time I enjoy golf and camping and a lot of my time is spent following my three boys around their various activities.
Business Manager/Financial Adviser
I have been the Practice Manager at Mainland since 2007, became a shareholder in 2010 and Director in 2019. Being challenged too many times by colleagues, family, friends and others within the industry to become a Financial Adviser myself, is one of the drivers behind why I joined the Adviser force in late 2020. The leading driver would be my exposure to the life and trauma claims for many of Mainland’s clients who have been faced with some of life’s crisis’s and darker days. This helped cement my belief that people who access educated and personalised advice, matched with “fit for purpose” insurance products, fair financially better in any traumatic situation.
I love my job, especially knowing that I can help to make a difference in peoples’ times of loss, illness and improved financial futures.
When not at work, you will find me at the gym, trying out various clubs and sports, walking or raising a glass with friends and family.
I joined Mainland Insurance in February 2016 and since then I have completed the NZ Certificate in Financial Services, Life and Health Insurance, General Insurance and Residential Property Lending and more recently the Investment strand. I have ten years of customer service experience in the Telecommunications industry. I’m an avid motorcyclist, if there’s a rally or a street race on you’ll find me close to the action. I provide advice tailored to suit your needs and budget in order to best protect your lifestyle, get you on and up the property ladder.
I joined Mainland early in 2017 after spending several years as a senior personal banker for Westpac. I specialise in all things lending and always focus on always putting my clients first. This includes providing home loan advice for first home buyers, those looking to build a home, or those hoping to grow their investment property portfolio. I also have experience dealing with rural lending and helping commercial clients with new lending or managing their existing debt.
Along with finance, I have a passion for risk insurance and help my clients protect what is most important to them. I provide guidance and recommendations for life, health and mortgage/income protection insurances as well as general insurance. I have completed the level five certificate in financial services with accreditation across lending, general, life and health insurances and I combine this study with over eight years’ experience in the industry.
When I’m not at work, you likely will find me spending time with my husband and our three kids while enjoying social events with friends. I also love all things sport and enjoy a game of tennis or netball or watching the mighty Highlanders play and (sometimes) win.
Having spent most of my working life in many different roles within the financial sector both here and in the UK, I have now found my niche. My aim is to educate and to help people understand:
- What cover they have got and why they chose to take it.
- What they haven’t got and their decision process behind that.
- What their contingency plan is, if an event they chose not to cover arises.
I am passionate about protecting people and what is important to them and as everyone has a different story, I love working with them to find the best solutions for their journey. I have completed a Bachelor of Business Studies and Graduate Diploma in Business Studies (majoring in financial planning). Spending time with my family & friends and walking long distances with my dog are some of my favourite pastimes and I usually complete several ½ marathons a year I love to travel, meet people & experience life and both my role with Mainland and my personal life are geared towards that.
I joined Mainland in 2020 and work with both Kylie and Justin to help clients with their mortgage applications. I’m Mainland’s go-to for all things mortgage related and I pride myself on giving clients the most seamless service possible.
When I’m not at work helping lending clients, I’m running around after my two small children. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, playing netball and getting to the gym.
I have been working in the Insurance Industry for over 17 years and have been at Mainland Insurance for seven of these. I started in fire & general insurance and from there I have also been involved in the life insurance sector and more recently providing support with residential lending. I have gained my NZ Certificate in Financial Services Residential Lending. If you receive a call from the Mainland Insurance office regarding a review of your policies the chances are the bubbly blonde on the end of the phone will be me! I really enjoy helping and talking to people, both clients and fellow work colleagues.
When I’m not at work I spend most of my time with my horses that have been my passion since I was 2 years old. During summer weekends you will find me and my four-legged friend at horse events around South Canterbury show jumping with a huge smile on both our faces!
I have been the receptionist at Mainland since September 2013. Mainland is a friendly, welcoming and fun place to work. When you call Mainland I am your first point of contact. As our valued client your calls are given priority and we like to deal with each call promptly and answer any questions you may have as quickly as possible. In mid 2019 I gained my NZ Certificate in Financial Services Life & Health Insurance. When I am not at work I like to spend time with my family, take long walks and ride my bike. I look forward to talking to you in the future.
